NATIONAL JOURNAL OF OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY AND HEAD AND NECK SURGERY
Instructions to Authors
National Journal of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery is Three Times medical journal which publishes original articles and case report. Case reports (clinical records) should be very brief and should be confined to single case without precedent in Indian literature or to cases which illustrate some entirely new facts in management and investigation.

All articles are reviewed to determine validity, significance of contents and conclusions. Articles should not exceed 5000 words; Case reports should be restricted to 2000 words.
All articles are edited to ensure conciseness and clarity. The Editor reserves the right to make literary corrections. In preparing and forwarding the manuscript; lease observe the following.
1.
Covering page: Address the manuscript to the the Editor, Dr. Vikas Sinha, Dean, Prof. E.N.T. Government Medical College, Bhavnagar (Gujarat), India. State that the enclosure include (1) a letter transferring the copyright of manuscript to the Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Gujarat State Branch (AOI GSB) (ii) 2 copies of manuscript, (iii) 2 sets of illustrations, tables etc. State the name and address of the author to whom correspondence should be made. Copy of the manuscript and illustrations will not be returned unless enclosed with self-addressed envelope with suitable weight stamped, in case the manuscript is not acceptable for publication.Copy of the manuscript and illustrations will not be returned unless enclosed with self-addressed envelope with suitable weight stamped, in case the manuscript is not acceptable for publication.
2.
Copyright page: Enclose a scan copy signed by all the authors of the manuscript for transferring copyright to the AOI GSB. The form of the letter should be as follow

The manuscript has not been published in part or whole elsewhere and is solely contributed to the National Journal of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. The authors undersigned hereby transfer assign and otherwise convey all copyright ownership to the AOI GSB. The authors do not have any objection to reviewing and editing of this submission by the editor to suit for journal requirement.

Manuscript page: The manuscript should be typed in Ms Word in point size 10. Use double spacing throughout for typing the manuscript. Provide margin of 2.5 cm. on all sides. Please also send the a copy of article in a compact disc (CD) on Microsoft Word
 The CD should be labeled with the name of author(s), title of article. Photograph should be scanned at 1200dpi and sent as jpg file. Image or photograph should be separate files.

The title of the paper should be with capital letters on the top. The names of the authors should be typed with capital letters on the top. The names of the authors should be given below the title. The initial and surname should be stated. Titles such as ‘Dr’ or ‘Mr’ and academic qualification should not be mentioned anywhere. The footnote should mention the names of authors, designation of author, the name of institution, the meeting at which the paper was read and acknowledgments and address for correspondence with the main author. The footnote should appear on the title page. The title of the articles should not contain more than 50 characters.

First page of test: The first page of text should contain the full title of the paper and an abstract of not more than 150 words. The abstract and keywords are essential for publication.
5.
Subsequent pages of text:The pages of the typescript should be serially numbered with a short title of the paper appearing below the page number. Articles with spelling mistakes or grammatical error are rejected outright.
6.
Illustration:  Illustrations should be referred to in the text as ‘figs’ and given numbers. They should be marked lightly with the pencil on the back with the figure number, caption, names of authors and the title of the paper. The top should be marked with an arrow. Line-diagrams should be drawn on separate sheet with black ink. Each illustration should be described in legend and grouped on a separate sheet of paper. The legend of micro-photograph should mention the stain as well as the magnification.
The illustration should not be folded during transmission and protected by cardboard. Two sets of illustration must be submitted with the manuscript.
7.
Tables and Charts : Tables and Charts are not Printed.
8.
Statistics: Statistics should be compiled in consultation with a statistician.
9.
Abbreviations : Abbreviations should be standard abbreviations.
10.
Drugs names : : Use generic names in parenthesis.
11.
References: References should be made giving the author’s surname with the year of publication. Only papers closely related to the subject should be quoted. Original papers should not have more than 6 references
References should be given at the end of the article on a separate sheet of paper. The names of journals should appear without abbreviation. The full title of paper should be given. Mention et al after writing the names of at least three authors if the authors are more than three or write the names of all authors.

The bibliography should be titled “References” and the quoted articles should be listed to the surname of the first authors.

It is very important that the authors should verify personally the accuracy of each reference. The responsibility of having permission to re-produce illustrations and photographs from other published work will rest with    the authors.  The journal shall not be responsible regarding the fact and figures of the article.  The views expressed in the article are of the authors of each article and not of Gujarat Journal of Otorhinolaryngology and head & Neck Surgery.
Kindly note that the journal reserves the rights to make changes in the language , grammar, presentation, tables, size and numbers of photographs etc. to suit the journal requirements .
